Ways to connect iPhone to computer. Connecting iPhone to computer: via USB, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and as an access point iPhone 4 connects to the computer

Hello! But really - what to do? Run for a new phone? Should I send the phone in for repair? Throw away your computer? The options are certainly interesting and almost certainly effective, but too expensive :) And you shouldn’t get so excited, because the problem with connecting the iPhone to the computer can almost always be solved without resorting to drastic measures.

So what should you do? First, you need to determine what the “catch” actually is. Which device is failing? This is easy to do - take the gadget and go to a neighbor (friend, work, electronics store, etc.). In short, our main task is to find another PC or laptop. Found it? Great!

We try to synchronize with it, if everything works out here, then...

iPhone won't connect to computer. Reason - PC

Yes, in most cases this is what causes connection problems. To eliminate them, we perform the following steps:

  • First of all, reboot both devices. So to speak, for prevention.
  • We try different USB ports and check, for example with a flash drive, their functionality. After all, one of them may burn out or simply not work.
  • We do not use adapters, splitters, extension cords or other devices for USB ports. We plug the cable directly into the system unit.
  • . The ideal option would be to follow the latest version from the Apple website.
  • Disable third-party software (antiviruses, firewalls). Don't forget to turn them on after checking!
  • The most radical step is to reinstall the operating system; it will most likely help, but it will take time...

If the iPhone cannot connect to another computer, then the problem is clearly in the device...

Why doesn't the computer see the iPhone? Reason: phone

No matter how reliable and stable Apple products are, they can also be the cause of connection problems.

Although most often, the owners of these devices are to blame, having brought them to such a state that it becomes surprising how they can still synchronize, let alone. I got distracted for some reason :)

Returning to the topic, let's try the following steps:

  1. After connecting, unlock your phone, it is quite possible that you will see a pop-up window with the question: “Trust this computer?” Without an affirmative answer, no synchronization will occur, only charging.
  2. Change cable. Even if there is no visible damage, the wire may be faulty. Or it is quite possible that it is not original - but in this case, there is a possibility of a device with an “unsupported” accessory.
  3. devices. If you decide to take such a desperate step, remember to back up your information (using or ), otherwise you will lose all your data forever.
  4. Jailbreak, or more precisely the so-called tweaks installed with its help, can also contribute to synchronization problems.
  5. Update software. It's always useful!
  6. Clean the connector on the phone (it may have become oxidized or dirty). Important! Clean very carefully, ideally leave it to a professional. If you decide to do this yourself, look for information on the Internet, otherwise you may make the situation worse.
  7. The last point we have is the saddest one - the connector for charging and synchronization is broken or out of order. There is only one way - to the service center! If possible, contact only official workshops listed on the company’s website.

By the way, there is another win-win option - contact Apple support. And torment them with the question: “Why doesn’t my iPhone connect to the computer using USB?” To be honest, I haven’t tried, but I don’t think I’ll hear anything new from them, and the conversation will take a lot of time.

As you can see, in most cases you can get by with a little trouble and troubleshoot problems at home.

The main thing is to be careful, consistent, take your time and check absolutely all possible causes that could lead to connection problems.

We've tried everything, but the situation hasn't changed for the better - the iPhone still won't connect to the computer? Be sure to write in the comments - we’ll try to figure it out and solve your problem together!

Apple devices have a closed architecture - many operations require the use of a PC. That is why, when buying an iPhone, the user must be prepared for the fact that they will have to connect this gadget via a USB cable much more often than any of the Androids. The operation of connecting an iPhone via USB seems simple, however, there are some nuances that do not allow you to work with this device as a standard storage medium.

A USB cable is included with any new or refurbished iPhone.– if there is no cable, this means one of two things: either they are trying to sell you a non-original smartphone (in other words, a Chinese counterfeit), or the cable was lost by sluggish salon consultants who used the gadget’s package for their own needs.

There are two types of USB cable for iPhone:

The first one is Lightning. Connectors with 8 pins appeared on bundled USB cables and chargers along with the 5th modification of the iPhone. iPhones 7th modification also use Lightning to connect headphones. A distinctive feature of Lighting is that the connector can be inserted into the connector from either side.

The cost of a Lightning cable in the official Apple store is 1.5 - 2 thousand rubles (depending on the length).

Second – 30-Pin. Cables with 30-pin connectors were included with iPhone 3 and 4 versions. Nowadays it is better not to lose or break such cables: their cost is low, but finding such cables in stores and showrooms is extremely problematic.

On the other side of the iPhone cable there can now be not only a classic USB connector, but also a connector that looks more like a micro-USB.

This connector has several advantages: Firstly, it, like Lightning, is symmetrical, that is, it can be inserted into the connector on either side, Secondly, it guarantees an incredible data transfer speed (bandwidth – 10 Gb/sec). Cable Lightning-USB Type-C is also available in the official Apple store - at a price of 2.5 thousand rubles.

How to connect an iPhone to a computer via USB and why do you need to do it?

Connecting an Apple gadget to a PC via USB allows you to:

  • Synchronize iPhone with the program iTunes: load music and other multimedia data into the device’s memory, transfer notes and contacts, transfer credentials.
  • Create backup copies of the information stored in the device’s memory and restore data from backup copies.
  • Restore and update the operating system.
  • Free up device memory (which is worth its weight in gold) by transferring data to your computer's hard drive.

All this will be impossible to do if the connection between the iPhone and PC via USB is unstable. Right Connecting iPhone to computer is quite simple:

Step 1. Take the USB cable and insert the connector 30-Pin or Lightning into the corresponding connector on the gadget.

Step 2. Insert the connector on the other side into any of the USB connectors of your computer or laptop.

Step 3. Wait for the sound characteristic of connecting the device via USB. At the same time, the iPhone will vibrate to notify the owner that it is charging.

Step 4. The message “ Trust this computer?" Confirm by clicking the appropriate button.

Step 5. An Autorun window pops up on the computer monitor - this already indicates a successful connection via USB.

Close this window.

Step 6. Go to " My computer"—you will see your iPhone in the list of portable devices.

Step 7. Click on the icon and you will have access to photos and videos that were taken with your iPhone camera. You won’t be able to get to the music this way - you’ll have to install and run a program called iTunes.

Why iPhone does not connect to the computer: possible problems

The solution to the problem of connecting an iPhone via USB very often lies on the surface. This is a typical situation: the user connected the smartphone via a cable, waited for the iPhone to notify by vibration that it was charging - but nothing else happens! According to the instructions given, we see that the next step is for the user to confirm trust in the computer. “Trust request” does not appear on the screen of a locked iPhone. Simply unlock the device - a message will appear and the problem will be solved.

Other errors are possible:

  • If you encounter errors accompanied by the messages SyncServer And MobileDeviceHelper, check if the time is set to the same on the PC and the gadget. Even a slight time difference can result in connection failure.
  • If there is an error " USB device not recognized» Plug the cable into another USB port on your computer.
  • The error may also be due to the fact that the SIM card in the iPhone does not meet the requirements of the device. For the connection to occur correctly, just activate “ Airplane mode" through " Settings».
  • If the computer is just does not see iPhone, the problem lies in the cable or in the connector on the gadget itself. In any of these two cases, the user will have to spend a lot of money - on buying a new “cord” or on diagnosing the device with subsequent repairs.

Connecting via USB: pros and cons

Connecting with a USB cable is not the only way to connect an iPhone to iTunes and a PC in general. An iPhone with iOS version older than 5.0 can be connected to a computer via Wi-Fi. However, most owners of Apple equipment continue to use cables the old fashioned way and here’s why:

  • Connection via cable guarantees high data transfer speeds (for USB 3.0 – 4.8 Gbit/s). When connecting via Wi-Fi, you also have to look at the restrictions set by your Internet provider.
  • A device connected by a cable to a PC is recharged, while when connected via Wi-Fi, energy, on the contrary, is consumed at an impressive rate.
  • Connecting via USB is a very simple procedure, but not everyone can organize an over-the-air connection.
  • Only when connecting via cable can you restore data from a backup copy and perform a full reset.

Using USB ports to connect an iPhone also has disadvantages:

  • The device is actually tied to the PC with a “cord”. This limits the user's capabilities - in order to talk on the phone, he will have to interrupt the “connection”.
  • The gadget takes up one of the USB ports - this can be a problem if your laptop or laptop only has 2 ports.

Conclusion

Connecting an iPhone to a PC via USB is no more difficult than an Android: in any case, difficulties are possible, but their occurrence is more an exception to the rule than the rule. Another thing is that connecting an iPhone via USB alone will not give the user wide opportunities - he will only be able to copy and delete photo and video files taken with the gadget’s camera, and for other operations he will have to master iTunes. Working with Android in this regard is much simpler: when connected to a computer via USB, a smartphone with a “green robot” is detected as a flash drive.

iPhones are gaining more and more fans: they are fashionable, practical and stylish. But since the information storage space that is placed in this gadget is not dimensionless, sooner or later the question will arise of where to put the accumulated data: photos, videos and other files that are a pity to delete. One way to store media files from an iPhone is to move the information to your computer’s hard drive. But here the next question arises: is it possible to connect an iPhone to a computer? The answer is obvious: naturally, you can. Moreover, there are practically no difficulties in this procedure. To complete all the steps correctly, you need to familiarize yourself with basic knowledge of how to connect an iPhone to a computer via USB.

Basic knowledge of connecting this device to a computer

Useful program for solving problems

iTunes for iPhone - a free application that is easy to find and download on the Internet. This app helps you sync your iOS device with your PC. Moreover, when downloading the utility, you install basic drivers along with it, which will simplify working with the gadget. In particular, the application helps to synchronize contacts, install games, download media files, books and many other useful programs.

If iTunes for iPhone is installed on your computer, then when connected via a USB cable, synchronization should occur quickly and automatically. There is an important point: if data is being transferred, under no circumstances should you pull out the cord. This interruption may negatively impact the device's file system. If you need to pause file transfers, you simply pull up the slide, unsync, select safe eject, then unplug the cable.

Sometimes it may happen that even after installing iTunes, the computer may not see the iOS device. In most cases, such a nuisance occurs after a new firmware for an Apple friend or after a PC update. To fix this problem you need to do the following.

  1. Install the latest version of iOS.
  2. Connect the iFunBox file manager or iExplorer, which is identical in capabilities.
  3. Using this program, find the var/mobile/Media section.
  4. Copy it to your computer and then delete it from the gadget.
  5. Restart your iPhone.
  6. Connect to PC.
  7. All is ready. If some of the files are missing after connecting, they can be found in the copied “Media” folder.

Additional features

Sometimes, especially at work, you may need to connect your “bitten apple” to a computer, and the employer may prohibit installing additional applications on the PC, and Wi-Fi is also unavailable. Is there a way out of such a stalemate? And here, too, the answer is positive: yes.

like a flash drive?

A free USB Drive for the iPhone application has been created for this purpose. The very idea of the developer of this program is for the PC to recognize the device not as a digital camera, but to see it simply as a flash drive.

It should be noted that there is a problem here. The fact is that the iPhone is initially used for synchronization or for downloading media materials. Therefore, the USB driver conflicts with these functions. We should give credit to the developers; they solved the problem quite simply: they introduced three separate operating modes for the gadget.

Program modes

Default is a mode in which devices are synchronized and photos and videos are transferred. When you enable this function as a flash drive.

Drive + iTunes. On devices with Mac OS, it is possible to synchronize and use an iOS device as a storage medium. The flash drive does not work on the Windows operating system.

Drive Only - any operating system recognizes only a flash drive and nothing else.

Before using your iPhone as a flash drive, you need to create a virtual disk - a special partition that will be reserved for space for information. When connecting the device to a PC, only this section and its contents will be visible. It is also important that after this procedure it will be possible to use the iPhone as a flash drive on any device without additional drivers.

Application nuances

When creating a virtual disk, you need to specify the required size and come up with a name for it.

After this, you will have to wait a while while formatting takes place. Those who have already performed this operation say that it takes quite a lot of time to create such a folder.

The big disadvantage of the program is the fact that before switching modes, the device must be rebooted each time.

The following point is also important: if you installed the USB Drive for the iPhone program and then decided to delete it, then you can delete it only when the Default mode is turned on. Otherwise, the iPhone may behave unexpectedly or even break.

Connecting iPhone to PC without USB cable

Naturally, the question may arise whether it is possible to move information without a cord. In other words, how to connect an iPhone to a computer without USB? For owners of the fifth model, there is another way to transfer data from their Apple to a PC. This can be done using a wireless network.

The algorithm for connecting an iOS device to Wi-Fi is described below.

For such a connection you will need:

  • iPhone;
  • Personal Computer;
  • wireless network router.

First of all, you need to activate the Wi-Fi module in the device.

Then in the settings, select the found wireless network provided by the router.

After this, a connection should occur.

Sometimes a situation arises when the computer does not see the connected iPhone via a wireless network.

There may be several explanations for this. Without delving into all the nuances of such reasons, we will try to correct this situation.

  1. Synchronize devices using a USB cable.
  2. Enter the "Itunes" section, find the "Devices" folder and select the desired gadget model.
  3. Open the "Overview" section and select the "Settings" folder.
  4. In this section you need to select “Synchronization”.
  5. After this, disconnect the wire from the PC.

That's it, now you can connect devices using a wireless network.

Hi all!

After I wrote several lessons about the iPhone, I began to get asked the following question more and more often: Sergey, why doesn’t the computer see the iPhone?. It’s one thing when you were asked about it once, but another thing when this question comes up regularly! I decided to look into this issue and, as it turned out, the reasons for this may be very different and, naturally, the approach to solving this problem may also be different.

I have collected 10 tips that I want to tell you about here. Let's get down to business right away!

Reinstall drivers on USB

One proven way to solve this problem is to reinstall USB drivers for iPhone. We need through device Manager remove them and then reinstall them.

First of all, use a USB cable to connect your iPhone to your computer. Next, go to Properties of the Computer section and open device Manager.

In the window that opens, find the USB Controllers section or it may also be a section Portable devices. Open it and look for Apple Mobile Device USB. You need to right-click on it and select Delete.

In the confirmation window, check the box " Remove driver programs for this device" and click OK.

The old, bad, unnecessary driver will be removed!

Now unplug the iPhone's USB cable from the computer and plug it in again. The driver will be installed again, as indicated by the following window:

Also on the iPhone we should be asked for permission to give the computer access to photos and videos. Naturally, click Allow.

In most cases, when the computer does not see the iPhone, this method will solve the problem. But if this doesn't help you, then let's try other tips!

Update chipset drivers (USB)

Every computer has a motherboard and chipsets installed on it. So, these chipsets are responsible for connecting various devices to the computer. For normal operation of chipsets, drivers are also needed. In some cases, drivers begin to work unstably. Most often this can happen if from some.

It happens that the computer not only does not see the iPhone, it cannot detect any other phones or flash drives at all. This is exactly what happened to me on old Windows. Updating the drivers for the chipset helped.

What to do in this situation?

First option. First, open the website http://devid.info/ru and click on the green Download button to download the DevID agend program for quick installation and update of drivers.

When installing, uncheck the boxes to avoid installing unnecessary ones.

After starting the program, you can click Start Search and the program will scan the equipment and offer to update old drivers.

It would be good if there is a fresh version of the driver for the chipset. In this case, it will be updated. But if not, then try the following steps.

1.2 Download and install the chipset

The second option is to download the drivers yourself and install them. Depending on your motherboard, it could be an Intel chipset or an AMD chipset. Let's look at the installation using chipsets from Intel as an example.

On the official Intel website, at this link: https://downloadcenter.intel.com you can download the program for chipsets. Press the blue button Chipset.

1.3 Auto-selection of Intel drivers

Third option. You can also have Intel select the drivers needed for our system. To do this, they have a special utility on their website that will scan our equipment and install the necessary programs.

Click "Trust this computer"

Please note that when we connect our phone to the computer, a request appears on the screen where we must allow access to settings and data. Just click Trust.

Connect to another USB connector

Try changing the USB connector. Especially if you insert the cable from the iPhone to the connectors on the front panel of the system unit. Try connecting the cable to one of those connectors on the back of the system unit. These connectors are directly soldered into the motherboard, and they work as cool as possible!

Reinstall iTunes

I hope you know that in order to fully manage your iPhone on a computer, we need iTunes programs for Windows. If it doesn't work well for you, you need to reinstall it. Or you can just update.

Download the latest version and install over the old one. The program will be updated.

Restart Apple Mobile Device Service

Before performing this step, be sure to disconnect your iPhone from your computer and close iTunes. Now we need to restart Apple services. Because you never know, they suddenly become stupid.

Open the search bar by pressing the hot keys WIN+Q and enter Services in the search bar.

We launch the found program and find the Apple Mobile Device Service. Open it by double clicking the mouse.

We stop the service.

Now you need to make sure that the startup type is Automatic and then restart this service.

Open the computer section and find the iPhone

After updating iTunes and restarting the Apple service, the computer should definitely now see the iPhone. Open the Computer section and find your phone here.

In my case it is at the very top, but yours may be at the bottom. Be careful, what if the computer sees the iPhone, but you’re just not paying attention to it here!

Connect iPhone to another computer

If you connect your iPhone to another computer, you will immediately be able to understand where to dig next. If another computer sees the iPhone, then the problem is most likely on the side of your computer, which does not see the phone. If other computers or laptops don’t see the iPhone, then there’s definitely something wrong with the USB cable or with the phone itself! To be on the safe side, I would connect the phone to two different computers with different systems.

Breaking

If none of the methods described above solved the problem and the laptop or computer still does not see the iPhone, then something has broken in the device itself. I think that the power connector into which the cable is inserted has simply failed.

Try, test and I hope everything works out for you.

is a program that all Apple device users need. With its help, you can download videos, music, photos, books, and other files to your device. iTunes is also used to sync, backup and restore Apple mobile devices.

In general, iTunes is needed in a variety of situations, so it is very important to know how to use it. In this article we will talk about how to connect iPhone to iTunes on a computer running Windows operating system.

Step #1: Find the cable.

To connect your iPhone to iTunes on your computer, you will need a cable. If you have an iPhone 5 or a newer iPhone model, then you need a cable with a Lightning connector. This cable is shown in the picture below.

If you have an older model (such as an iPhone 4s or older), then you need a cable with a wide 30-pin connector.

One way or another, you should have the right cable since you use it to charge your iPhone. Just unplug it from the charger and you can use it to connect your iPhone to iTunes.

Step #2: Connect your iPhone to your computer.

Once you have found the cable you need, use it to connect your iPhone to your computer. To do this, you just need to plug one end of the cable into the iPhone and the other into the computer.

Once connected, you should hear a beep indicating that your computer has detected a new device. Also, the first time you connect to a computer, a message should appear on the iPhone screen asking you to confirm the reliability of this computer.

If such a message appears, click on the “Trust” button.

Step #3: Launch iTunes.

Once you connect your iPhone to your computer, you can launch iTunes. To do this, use the shortcut on the desktop or in the Start menu. If you can’t find the shortcut, just open the Start menu, enter “iTunes” in the search and the computer itself will offer you the application you need. If the search doesn't find anything, iTunes may not be installed yet. In this case, go to the Apple website, download iTunes there and install it on your computer. You can read more about installing iTunes on your computer.

After launching iTunes, you're done. You have connected your iPhone to iTunes on your computer and now you can control your iPhone using this program.

Additionally. Set up a connection to iTunes via Wi-Fi.

In the future, you can connect your iPhone to iTunes via Wi-Fi. In order to get this opportunity, you need to connect your iPhone via cable, launch iTunes and click on the device button, which is located in the upper left corner of the window.

After that, you need to enable the “Sync this iPad over Wi-Fi” feature and apply the settings.

After this, your iPhone will connect to iTunes via Wi-Fi. It should be noted that this function only works when the iPhone is charging and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the computer.
